(Spring)time in Kathmandu

After a cold spell, things are starting to warm up again in Kathmandu.  This week I started riding my bicycle again.  Despite the dust and smoke in the air, it feels great to be back on Cool Bob!  I took a trip to Pokhara with my dear friend Sima and her officemates a few weekends ago which was lovely.  What has been occupying my days lately has been following the revolution in Egypt and researching and experimenting and developing our social media strategy at work.  Maybe it's the lengthening of the days or the no-longer-needing a hot water bottle bed partner, but I have been warming to my work here and ideas that have been in hibernation over the long, difficult winter seem to be twitching in their caves...

I have been learning a lot about social media at work, and the revolution in Egypt has convinced me that these communication tools are powerful.  After learning all that, I have decided to change the focus of my blog a bit.  I will be experimenting with several types of posts and such over the coming weeks and you can expect to hear from me more regularly.  Here are some two of the blogs I have been inspired by:

My friend Aisha's blog, full of powerful words and interesting, passionate people.

Luke, fellow Pitzer in Nepal alum's blog about his experiences teaching English in Nepal from a linguistic point of view.

Stay tuned for a facelift on "Hailey's Travels" and as the ideas raise their heads to the warmer winds of spring get ready for a hatching....
